(Some of) the Better Life Residents!

Ricky the Pig

Ricky began life as piglet at a farm. Weak and as the runt of the litter, the writing was on the wall but luckily a fantastic family rescued and rehabilitated Ricky to a position where he now lives a happy and healthy life with his pig friends.

Fifi the Ewe

Our Beautiful girl Fifi was adopted after she was found for free in a not too kind Gumtree ad. She not too long after became a mum giving birth to her gorgeous daughter Hayley who still to this day follows her mother around like a newly born lamb.

Phoebe the Piglet

Phoebe was dumped at Peel Zoo when she was only a few days old weighing under 1kg. While her early days were not without problems, Phoebe showed her strength getting stronger everyday even without her mother. She is now the head pig and takes the job of keeping the other pigs in line very seriously!

Snowy

Snowy came to us with her two sisters after being advertising online on the classified site Gumtree. She is the greediest of her sisters, and is most certainly the boss of the flock. She is used to humans, but generally prefers to be left with her friends.

Flip, Eli’s Brother

Brothers with Eli, Flip too was born into a school’s egg hatching project and had no place to go after the project was finished. Fighting like only brothers can, Eli and Flip who’ve been together since birth have learnt for the most part to live together with their roomie Lil Red.

Isabella the Alpaca

Izzy runs the lamb paddock with her trusty sidekick and daughter Bella by her side. Her motherly bond and protection of the fellow members of her herd means that Izzy isn’t shy of spitting at anybody who looks at her in the wrong way. Much like her daughter she also likes rolling in fresh hay and sitting in the rain.

Bella the Alpaca

Bella came to live with us her mother Izzy after neighbourhood dogs attacked and killed one of their goat friends. Her favourite activities include rolling in freshly fed hay, crying as the sun sets, and sneaking away from flock for a feed of goat museli.

Lilly the Angora Goat

Lilly came to live at the sanctuary after her best friend was mauled to death by a dog in her homelands of Collie. She sadly has never truly got over the incident and is extremely cautious of people and other animals, but has learnt to make new friends.

Chuckee (Norris)

Upon arriving at A Better Life Animal Sanctuary Chuckee made easy work of letting all 3 dogs know that she was the boss, and if anyone disagreed they could meet her horns. She was later given the nickname Chuckee Norris, which sums up her fight first - ask questions later personality.

Eli the Rooster

As part of a school egg hatching programme, Eli and his brothers had no where to go. He wasn’t wanted as he will never produce eggs. Luckily a compassionate Vet rescued Eli and his brothers and brought him to us. Now he lives his crowing with his rooster friends.

Marcia the Chicken

As part of our silkie chicken trio who we affectionately call The Brady Bunch, Marcia enjoys clucking and scratching with her sisters Jan and Cindy. Having been hand-raised she is one of our more affectionate chicken residents at the sanctuary.

Alex the Lamb

Apart from loving watermelons as is evident from his photo, Alex was rescued with his 3 lamb friends Ben, Marine and Carlin who are still with him to this day. After a few scares in his younger days, Alex has been the picture of health ever since. Unfortunately Alex like many lambs was rejected by his mother.
